 The Department of English was established, along with the college, in 1957 with a view :

• To Make the learners realize the prominence of the English language, as it is the Lingua-Franca of the entire world and an important tool for communication.

• To popularize the learning of language and literature in general and English in particular to sustain in today’s corporate world.
• To familiarize with the knowledge of English by learning the various components like: literature, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, spoken English, LSRW skills etc.,

• To make the students competent in the use of English Language through presentations in the seminars, participation in Group Discussions and projects, so as to enable them to compete in all the spheres of life.
