Test, Examination and Evaluation are carefully planned and executed in a transparent manner and Result displayed in college website.

Calendar of Events for Examination: 

  • The Calendar of Events for Continuous Internal Assessment and Semester End Examination is prepared carefully at the beginning of each semester and displayed on the notice board. The same is informed to the students at the time of induction program at the beginning of the Academic Year.

Evaluation Methods:

  • • Examination system involves two components for both Theory and Practical. Continuous Internal Assessment 30% weightage for each and Semester End Examination 70%.
    • Components of Theory Internal Test- 30 Marks
    • 1st announced tests : 10 marks (8th week)
    • 2nd (Surprise) test: 10 marks (3th week)
    • Skill development : 10 marks

    (Seminar/ GD/Quiz/Viva/Field Study/Project)

    Components of Practical Internal Tests: 15/30 Marks

    Assessment of all regular practicals : 5/10 marks

    One Internal practical test of 4 hour : 10/20 marks

    Registration:

    • Candidates having fulfilled 75% attendance can fill the examination form by paying prescribed fees.
    • 10% attendance is condoned for valid reasons.
    • Candidates are assigned alpha numerical registration number for UG course
    • Candidates of PG course are assigned alpha numerical registration number of 9 digits.
    • These registration numbers remain same for the candidate until the completion of the course for a stipulated period.

    2. Arrangement of Blocks: Blocks are arranged consisting maximum 30 students in each block.
    3. Strict Vigilance:
    Strict Vigilance is maintained throughout the examination with the help of room supervisors and squad members.
    4. Collection of answer scripts:
    Block wise papers are collected and packets containing 30 papers each are prepared and logged in the register.
    5. Bar-Coding: Immediately the answerscripts are bar-coded.
    6. Central Valuation : For UG - by external examiners

    Do’s & Don'ts in Examination Hall

    Do’s
    • Enter examination hall with Hall ticket, ID card and Dress code
    • Bring pen, pencil, eraser, scale, log table and simple calculator

    Don’ts

    • Mobiles are not allowed.
    • Electronic Gadgets are not allowed.
    • Tobacco products
    • Any chewing materials
    • Any chits/notes/books
    • Exchange of exam materials
    • Cross talking

    Malpractice Cases:

    Authority for imposing penalties and punishments:

    • The Chief Controller of Examinations, Controller of Examinations and the Indiscipline/malpractice Committee shall impose penalties and punishments.
    The following shall be construed as acts of indiscipline/ malpractice in the context of the examinations.
    • Preventing/ disturbing / boycotting and attempting to prevent / disturb the examination.

    • Intimidating/ assaulting fellow examinee/s and person/s involved in the conduct of the examinations, and other kinds of duties pertaining to the examinations.

    • Stealing / snatching and attempting to steal/Snatch question papers and answer books. Tampering/ forging and attempting to tamper/ forge marks in the answer books and substituting and attempting to substitute answer sheets.

    • Copying from any material, use of mobiles and any electronics gadgets

    Declaration of Results:
    1. 1.Display of Results: The results are declared after the completion of Semester End Theory and Practical Examinations within three weeks of the last practical or theory paper held. Results displayed in college website.

    2. 2.Issue of Marks Card from examination Section to Office.

    3. 3.Award of Classes: The results of successful candidates at the end of VI semester shall be classified on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in all the six semesters for optional subjects in B.Sc. and all core subjects in B.C.A. including compulsory subject.

    4. 4.In M.Sc IV semestershall be Classified on basis of aggregate marks with grade system.

    5. 5.Eligibility to award ranks: Only those candidates who have studied and completed all the VI semesters in the first attempt itself, within the stipulated period of three years (for UG course) and two year (for PG course) in P.C. Jabin Science College, Hubli shall be eligible for rankings provided they secure 60% and above marks.
    Award of Class For UG:
    70% and above

    60% to 69.99

    First Class

    50% to 59.99%

    Second Class

    40% to 49.99%

    Pass Class


    Award of Class For PG:
    7.5 and above

    6 to 7.49

    Provisions for Students

    • Re-totaling facility for Semester End answerscripts
    • Photocopy
    • Challenge Valuation
    • Supplementary Exam for IA for Genuine reasons like Representing College in State/ National level Seminars/Workshops/ Cultural Activities/ NCC/NSS/Sports and valid health reasons
    • Supplementary Exam for only either V failed students, if they have passed other Semester End Exams.(I to VI Except V)
    Challenge Evaluation:
    1. There shall be provision for Challenge Valuation to the UG/PG students.
    2. Application: The students can apply for Challenge Valuation for a maximum of two subjects at a time along with the prescribed fee to the Principal on or before the last dates notified after the announcement of the results
    3. The Challenge Valuation is by Board of Examiners.
    4. Refund of fees: There is a provision for refund of 50 percent fees collected for the Challenge Valuation, if the score improves by 10 marks or more, provided the candidate passes in the subject.
    5. Forfeit of earlier marks: The marks secured in the Challenge Valuation, whether less or more than the earlier is considered as final.
    6. Issue of Corrected marks card: If there is any difference in the marks obtained after the Challenge Evaluation, corrected marks card shall be issued to the candidate.
    Supplementary Exam:
    • Provision for repeat exam for candidates who have passed in all semester except V semester can appear after the declaration of VI semester results.

    Award of Degree – Through Parent University
    1. Submission of Results: The consolidated marks ledger of the semester end examinations shall be submitted to the Registrar Evaluation, Karnatak University, Dharwad.

    2. Issue of statement of marks: The College shall issue statement of marks for each semester and the consolidated statement of marks at the end of the programme.

    3. Issue of Passing Certificates: Passing Certificates to all the eligible candidates shall be issued by the Registrar Evaluation Karnatak University, Dharwad on the recommendation of the college.

    4. Award of Degree certificates: Degree shall be conferred to the successful candidates by the Parent University, mentioning the name of the college on the degree certificate.
